The Yunnan Puzhehei International Marathon traverses through the enchanting Puzhehei region of Yunnan China. Featuring a scenic basin with over 300 green peaks comprised of karst land formations, islands, caves, and lakes.

Runners will run along narrow trails, pathways, and boardwalks that traverse around the karst peaks while parallel to the lakes creating for a magical experience featuring some of the most picturesque parts of the country. Giving marathon runners breath-taking panoramic views and memories that will last a lifetime.

The Yunnan Puzhehei Marathon race takes place on Saturday October 29, 2016. Runners should plan a 3 to 5 day travel itinerary, arriving into Kunming on the 25 and depart on 31. Extended travel is recommended, see Schedule for full details.

The entry registration fee to the 2016 Yunnan Puzhehei Marathon is an all inclusive 3-day event package and includes round-trip bus transportation, lodging, race entry and bonfire celebration. Prices are in US dollars. The registration includes all of the following participant perks listed below.

To kick off the arrival to Qiubei, participants are welcomed to Yunnan Puzhehei International Marathon by the local Qiubei and Puzhehei with a celebration of bonfire and dance by the local people. This will be a fun filled interactive evening where you get to light the bonfire, watch the local traditional dance, then participate in select dances and partake in traditional festivities. Runners MUST to attend the Course Information meetings to be held the day before the race at the Tiancheng Taihe Hotel in Qiubei (Race HQ).

At this time you will be able to ask questions and collect your race kit, BIB, shirt, and goodie bag. There is a lot to cover in the Course Review meeting, so take the time to read the Runner’s Handbook before the meeting to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Get a detailed course map, elevation profile and walk-through descriptions of each race distance; full marathon (42.2k), half marathon (21.1k), 10 and 5 kilometer runs showing you exactly what to expect for each section of the course.

Runners should be physically fit and in shape to run a marathon event. We suggest using a training program to help condition your body to make your race experience unforgettable. We have provided a recommended Full and Half Marathon Training Program to get runners conditioned and ready to run this destination race. Being prepared makes your experience much more memorable.

The Runner’s Handbook welcomes runners to the Yunnan Puzhehei International Marathon and provides them with all the essential information for the race. Including the schedule, checklists, race BIB instructions, course maps, elevation profiles, course walk-throughs and more. Each year the Runner’s Handbook will be custom tailored around the race event for that year.

Round-trip transportation from Kunming to the Qiubei is included with your race entry fee. Buses will depart to Qiubei from the Kunming Wyndham Grand Plaza Hotel, view the schedule for full details.

Before you enter the start line, drop-off your pre-race/post-race clothing and belongings at the Gear Check. While you run, your gear will be held at Gear Check. Each participant will receive a large, durable swag bag at the Course Meeting when you pick up your packet that will serve as your gear bag on race day. Write your BIB number on your gear bag before you leave it with the Gear Check crew. After the race, reclaim your checked bag at the designated Gear Check area.

DO NOT leave valuables, cash or jewelry in your gear bag. It is recommend to not bring important valuables to the race, only the essentials. The event is not responsible for any lost items. Gear bags must be claimed before close of the race day.

Timing chip systems will be used to record participants’ times at the start and at the finish. Make sure you run over the finish mat to ensure your time is recorded. The timing chip will be given to you at the Course Information meeting when picking up your BIB and goodie bag.

The chip will be labeled with a number that matches your race number. When you pick up your bib, please make sure these numbers match. Proceed to the Information Table if any of the information is incorrect. Prior to the race, you must attach your chip to your running shoe. Please follow the instructions provided in your registration packet.

All participants in this race MUST wear the timing chip on your shoe in order to have their times recorded. After the race the chips will need to be removed and collected at the designated collection point by the finish line.

The Information Booth will be positioned near the start and finish to assist you with any race day questions and help you find your way. The Information Booth will also serve as the Lost & Found on the race day. Any valuables found at the start or finish should be turned in to the Information Booth.  Any valuable items NOT claimed by 4:00 PM will be brought back to our head quarters. To claim a lost item after the event, please contact Race Director.

The Medical Team is a dedicated group of medical professionals, available to help assess your race day medical needs and administer acute first aid when necessary. Don’t forget that if you feel unwell after the race, or simply that you need something for those new blisters that were not there when you started the race, the medical staff is on standby to check you out.

We strongly recommend that you consider having adequate travel medical insurance to cover any unexpected incident on race day.

Completing an event at the Yunnan Puzhehei International Marathon is great experience, however you will be exhausted which is why we will have volunteers ready to guide you through the finish line procedures. Once you cross the finish line, you’ll receive your finishers medal and refuel with water and refreshments. Just outside of the Finish line, you can retrieve your gear bag from the Gear Check.

Then reunite with family and friends to relish in your post race accomplishment with refreshments. With a large number of participants and excited spectators, it can be difficult to locate friends and family without a plan. It is highly recommended that you designate a meet-up location with friends and family BEFORE the race.

Race results will be available within 24 to 48 hours after the race. Each runner will receive a personalized official Yunnan Puzhehei International Marathon Finisher Certificate with their final finish time and distance.

The course time limits will be STRICTLY ENFORCED. There is a 8-hour time limit for all races, start time is approximately 7:00 AM with a 3:00 PM CUT-OFF time. Participants must maintain a pace faster than the course time limits in order to complete the race. Note that start times are approximate.

• FULL MARATHON: START 7:00 AM
• HALF MARATHON: START 7:00 AM
• 10K: START 7:00 AM
• 5K FUN RUN: START 7:30 AM

Race change requests are available, however they must be submitted no later than October 1st online. We are unable to guarantee any change request after October 1st, except for requests made at the Course Meeting held the day before the race. Submit your change request from our Contact page.

• Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions.
• Once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate, you may not give or sell your race number to anyone else. You may request a deferment for a future race. If you attempt to sell your race number, you may be banned from future Yunnan Marathon events.
• You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the full marathon, 14 years old for the half marathon. Younger runners must have special approval from the Race Director, submit request from the Contact page.
• You must be in good health and physically prepared to take on the challenge of a Marathon or Half Marathon.
• You must show photo ID/Passport to receive your race BIB and timing chip.
• Race numbers are required to participate.
• Timing chips must be worn on shoes. Runners must run over the start line and finish line mats for timing chips to register.
• No coaches, handcycles, bikes, in-line skates, skateboards, baby joggers or dogs will be allowed on the course.

Entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and entries are NON-TRANSFERABLE. Sorry, no exceptions. Once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. You may not give or sell your number to anyone else. Submit a cancelation request from the Contact page.
